Spectrogram Configuration

Spectrograms can be configured in a variety of specifications. Some frequently selected configurations are such as shown before:

Wide-Band-, Speech Spectrograms

In order to create a Wide-Band-Spectrogram with fundamental frequency contour measurement and formant extraction data select FFT-Spech-FOR from the STx-function tree and adjust the settings as shown.

The user is encouraged to specify the spectrogram parameters (frequency resolution, hop size etc.) and a spectrogram configuration found to be approriate to his sound material under current consideration. Both configurations shown above are just typical "Narrow-Band" for overview in musical signals and "Broad-Band" for speech analysis. Nevertheless STx doesn't the user to be restricted to any pre-configurations.

Cumulative Spectrogram and Parameter Processing

Once you as a user has defined a frequently used spectrogram configuration which has proven useful, please copy the configuration in the STx-functions tree (right mouse click) and rename it according to your preference for later use. STx will remember it as long as you prefer it. This procedure will enable you to reproduce exactly all parameters you have chosen later on and to apply them for new sound material in order to perform long term reliable comparisons.
